Dear Garden Valley Families,

 

We invite you to join our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings for the 2026–2027 school year!

ELAC is an opportunity for families of English Learners to learn about programs and services, review student progress, ask questions, share ideas, and provide input on how we can best support our English Learners at Garden Valley.

 

📅 ELAC Meeting Dates:

⏰ Time: 4:00–5:00 PM

📍 Location: Garden Valley Cafeteria

 

🌎 Interpretation will be available.

 

🍽️ Community Potluck: Families are invited to bring a dish to share at each meeting. Please plan to bring enough to share with approximately 30 people. Drinks will be provided by the school.

💙 Your voice matters! We encourage our families to join us, share their perspectives, and help us continue building a school where every student can be successful.

ELAC es una oportunidad para que las familias de estudiantes aprendices de inglés puedan conocer los programas y servicios, revisar el progreso de los estudiantes, hacer preguntas, compartir ideas y brindar sus opiniones sobre cómo podemos apoyar mejor a nuestros estudiantes en Garden Valley.

 

📅 Fechas de las reuniones de ELAC:

⏰ Hora: 4:00–5:00 PM

📍 Lugar: Cafetería de Garden Valley

🌎 Habrá servicio de interpretación disponible.

 

🍽️ Comida para compartir: Invitamos a las familias a traer un platillo para compartir en cada reunión. Por favor, traigan suficiente para compartir con aproximadamente 30 personas. La escuela proporcionará las bebidas.

از شما دعوت می‌کنیم تا در جلسات کمیته مشورتی زبان‌آموزان انگلیسی (ELAC) در سال تحصیلی ۲۰۲۶–۲۰۲۷ شرکت کنید.

ELAC فرصتی برای خانواده‌های دانش‌آموزان زبان‌آموز انگلیسی است تا درباره برنامه‌ها و خدمات معلومات کسب کنند، پیشرفت دانش‌آموزان را بررسی کنند، سوال بپرسند، نظریات خود را شریک سازند و در مورد چگونگی حمایت بهتر از دانش‌آموزان ما نظر بدهند.

📍 محل: کافه‌تریای Garden Valley

🌎 خدمات ترجمانی در دسترس خواهد بود.

🍽️ غذای مشترک: از خانواده‌ها دعوت می‌شود که در هر جلسه یک غذا برای شریک ساختن بیاورند. لطفاً به اندازه‌ای غذا بیاورید که برای حدود ۳۰ نفر کافی باشد. نوشیدنی‌ها توسط مدرسه فراهم می‌شود.

Garden Valley Elementary School 🦅

California Education Code 52852 requires that a school site council shall be established at each school that participates in Title I or LCFF supplemental/concentration grant funding.   The school site council shall be composed of the principal and representatives of: teachers selected by teachers at the school; other school personnel selected by other school personnel at the school; parents of pupils attending the school selected by the parents; and, in secondary schools, pupils selected by pupils attending the school.

School site council meet regularly to complete the following activities:

The purpose of the ELAC is to provide parents of English Learners opportunities to: 

•Learn more about the programs offered to their children.

•Participate in the schools’ needs assessment of students, parents and teachers. 

•Provide input to the principal and school staff of the most positive and effective strategies for teaching English Learners. 

•Provide input on the most effective ways to support full participation of English Learners in all school activities.

•Provide input on the most effective ways to ensure regular school attendance. 

•Have representation at the district level by the attendance of elected officials at the District English Language Advisory Council (DELAC) meetings.
